Ten-year-old Willow, her father Noah, grandfather Waylon and mother Imogen reside in the heart of the woods in the book The Beast Within. She is unaware of her father’s dark secret, which he and her mother are doing everything in their power to keep from her. Screenwriter/director Alexander J. Farrell’s and co-writer Greer Ellison’s script lacks a strong sense of tension and once Willow learns Noah’s sinister secret, the plot delivers little to no surprises. Though they’re not exactly sure where to take their thoughts, Farrell and Ellison know where to get ideas from.
